I got reminded today that this blog is in its 9th year. If you were to ask me nine years ago, I would have never thought I’d stick by any hobby for that long.

My first blog was when I was in grade six and I was around 12 years old. I distinctly remember naming it Deciphering Gibberish, and it was hosted in Blogger. it was a page where I was mostly just ranting about everything and sharing my feelings like a personal diary. It wasn’t until I was in college that I moved to WordPress, but I don’t have the slightest memory of why I did.

I started to read old posts I had, and it made me look back to why I started blogging in the first place. It wasn’t to earn or to have followers who read my posts. It was simply because I wanted to write and ironically, the internet felt like the safest place to share my thoughts. I haven’t done it consistently since then, but I’m glad there’s a place I can share my stories and opinions any time.

This blog is my safe space.
